After breakfast with Ernst and Martina i departed around 9am for Beerse to see Jeroen and Lisa. Was a horrible first day back on the bike, my gps wasn't working and I didn't have a sim card or any offline maps. So instead of taking 7 hours it took me 11.5 hours of which 10 were in the rain and I lost my key where I stopped for a bite and eventually found it at the cashier, when I pulled out my walled it came out with it. I ended up in Luxemburg and then asked for direction all the time and had to write it down but still went in circle. Finally arrived at 9pm and just soaked to the bone. He is actually leaving in three days time on his bike to Mongolia, so was great to catch up and have a beer and a meal with them. I met them in Bulgaria and bumped into them in Montenegro again.
How hard is it to take a photo. Drives me nuts and they took like 5 each time ,all the same, cut off the people lower part and have plenty of ceiling or sky.
Tuesday 7th May Beerse to Southamton 420km. 8hrs
Left at 9am in my damp riding suite and wet boots for Calais 259 km west in France for the 1:40 ferry to Southamton. ($ 110 )
Arrived at Jon and Liz, who are neighbors from Simon's Town, at 5pm for happy hour.
Luckily had no rain the entire way and my gear dried out.
Had a nice braai with some folks that lived in Simon's Town and now live close to Liz and John.
Went for a short walk to the coast where I found some neat old building and the one below are stables and beautiful stone house.
