DJOUM TO AWANDO 11hrs.
Was on the bike at 6:20am as I had 535kms to do. Got to the border at 9am and Cameroon was quick and easy for the third time. Passavant was stamped three times, took one minute then Immigration filled out my passport details which took five minutes and I was gone.
Congo Immigration was a breeze and had no issues having two passports like I was fearing. The weird thing is that he stamped me in on my SA passport but the visa is in my US passport which he didn't stamp. That's very odd and will probably come back to bite me. So will enter Angola with my SA passport which will be great cause then I can use it in Namibia and then SA.
I told customs I did not have a CDP which he wanted and then waved me through. Have no insurance. They were all super friendly and helpful and had no extra fees to pay or bribes or gifts.
The roads are in great shape and was able to average 70kmph so by 1pm had done 500kms and so pushed on south for another 300kms to Awando. Was a long but pleasant ride especially in the morning when it is cool and there were NO SPEEDBUMPS or towns you had to ride through and the road wound through thick jungle forest for hours and only saw maybe 35 vehicle the entire day. Near the Equator the jungle ended and was just dense bush no more beautiful massive trees and greenery. Evryone waves at you and have big smiles, so welcoming whereas in Cameroon very few people waved .
Crossed the Equator again, feels good to be in the Southern Hemisphere again and summer and can almost see Table Mountain.
Got another $15 hotel room, nice and large, cold shower which is actually perfect and no big deal, but no food or beer on premises. Went down to the main drag and had some street food again, chicken on a skewer and chugged some beer nearby.
