Went to Bouaflè which is the main place for the Zaouli Dance and stopped at a church and enquired about the dance and then was taken to the Chief's house. Then they took me up the road to a guy that works for the culture center. He wanted 100 000 CFA ($160) and told him that it was out of my budget. Then sat and waited and he then asked what I would pay and we settled at 40 000CFA. Waited around for ages not knowing if that was going to work or not and he eventually came back and said "Let's go " much to my delight. I could not believe it was happening. We then went to the Cultural Centter and met the director and sat in his office for an hour, even offered me a beer which I declined.
Then finally we left and I followed on my bike about 20kms to Tibeit, a tiny village where the dance is performed.
It was an amazing dance and was real happy I was able to organize it, I was told there would be two dancers but only saw one. In Africa you just never know what you are going to get no matter what you are told and I did tell the guy I was disappointed that there were not two dancers like he told me, but just got a shrug. Anyhow it was a fantastic experience and felt very fortunate to have seen the Zaouli Dance.
Got back to the hotel and had lunch with Chris and tomorrow will leave for Abidjan to get some visas and weld my steering yoke, but doubt it. Need visas for six more countries, the others are meant to be on arrival and free.
YouTube Roy Whitworth is where I posted the video's of the dance and all other videos of my trip.
