ATAR TO OUADANE BACK TO ATAR DAY THREE OF PEUGEOT 205 TRIP

DAY 211    29 NOVEMBER 2024

Left after 10am for Oudane, was all on good dirt roads, just flat with rocks as far as can see for 184kms, rather boring.

Oudane was built in 1141 and was on a camel trade route north to south but then collapsed and rebuilt it a few times and then in the early 19th century.

TRIP TO DESERT IN PEUGEOT 205 DAY 209 + 210

November 27th and 28th in Peugeot.

Left Noudhibou around 9am and basically headed east along the railroad to Chouan. Once leaving the asphalt road it was sand for about 410kms. We had a few minor issues which we fixed and adjusted the tyre pressure quote a few times depending on the sand conditions. The 205 is a two wheel drive but never got stuck once and we have had thick soft sand but no fesh fesh.We did 268kms the first day and slept in the desert just past Inal.I just slept on the sand, didn't bother with the tent and survived.

DAY 210       2nd of car trip.

Today we got going after some coffee and a banana and encountered a lot more soft sand but never got stuck once. Adjusted tyre pressure all day and it worked well. Stopped at Ben Amera and had lunch and then went to the smaller rock where they had some artists carve on the rocks and few years back.

You can just see the car down there.

Continued on to Choum and that was the end of the tracks and then headed south to Atar 130kms on asphalt road to Bab Sahara campsite where we had a good meal.

NOUADHIBOU DAY 207 + 208

Relaxed and went into town with Victor and then picked up two people that had come down on the train. They were not allowed to board the iron ore cars and had people following them to ensure they did not and told them that as of today you are not allowed on the cars anymore. Real interesting  guy from Zambia and is a chef on a super yacht 124m long and that's the boat for the owners friend's and is one of thirteen yachts in his fleet. He had many interesting  stories but obviously aq+`aq!+```` couldn't  tell us who owned it or where it was docked.

Later in the day three more bikers showed up, one Chinese guy with his wife who had started a year ago in Bangkok and two young French guys on 400Z Suzuki's.

There is another French guy here in a Peugeot 205 and I am going to go with him for a few days somewhere in the desert tomorrow.  So got our supplies today, biscuits, oranges, peanuts some chips and water. Then a couple arrived in a MAN truck which cost €2 million, and he is also heading to Cape Town.
