Went to the ferry terminal and the rain bucketed down and the ferry was 45 minutes late so we departed at 9:15 pm for the 65 mile trip to Heysham which took 3.5 hours.
Chicken curry and hard rice, terrible.
10 JUNE 2024 DAY 39
Departed at the ferry at 1am in a drizzle and then headed north instead of south for about 30km and then turned around and headed south on the M1 for Calais which is 7 hrs away. It got got down to 8*C and my hands got cold and then my feet cause the boots aren't waterproof and am going to buy some boots that are cause I am done with having wet cold feet. Stopped a few times to warm up and had a coffee and then around 4:30am it was light again which was helpful. Started to feel tired and fought it and won, had no other choice. Then got to the ring road near London at around 6am and it was clogged and took forever and then took the wrong turn and then finally figured it out and had to backtracke and then got on the road to Calais.
Was real lucky ,I got to Calais at 11:30am and got my ferry ticket (€53) drove straight onto the ferry and the doors closed and off we went. Only 4 bikes and a few cars, went into the lounge and took off my wet boots and lay on the seats and fell asleep for an hour and a half which felt like two minutes, but felt so good after the marathon day.
Then only had two hour ride through France then Belgium to Groede in Holland to Will's house again. After having coffee and a biscuit, the only thing I eat all day I had a shower and got into some clean dry clothes and then they took me out with Eddie and Marion for a rib eye at a nice restaurant on the beach.
