Olle has a nice workshop and knows bikes and has all the tools, so he confirmed with his multimeter that it was the stator that was not charging and needed to be replaced.
Found a used one for €190 which was better than the OEM one at €1000 so we rode about 80km north on the backroads to go pick it up, I used his Trans Alp and he has a Triumph Tiger.
Got back and prepared for his birthday party and had a great meal with friends and family.
