PORTO PORTUGAL DAY 157 439km
MEIRA, SPAIN TO PORTO IN PORTUGAL
After a filling breakfast left the hotel around 10am and was just a commute today in the rain on the highway .
Was about 160kms to Santiago de Compostela where I stopped in the square in front of the iconic church and took shelter for an hour or so. All the " pilgrims" finish their walk on the square and there are hundreds coming in all day long, the rain was relentless the entire day and a bummer for those folks finishing in such miserable conditions.
PORTO
The rain did let up a bit so I scurried around and through the church and then decided to go to Porto for the night. Left in the rain and arrived in Porto, 240kms later in the rain, took the toll road all the way, a miserable commute it was.
Found a decent place in the centre of town which worked out great. Afyer a quick shower I went to explore the town in the fading sunlight and never had another drop of rain in the five hours I walked around, so was happy for that. Had a meal at a restaurant overlooking the bridge down by the river, so ended up to be a gret evening in Porto.
Went down early in the morning before I left to walk the bridge again.

MEIRA - NW SPAIN DAY156 421km
PICOS de EUROPA
The hotel was real comfortable and the owner very friendly and helpful and even got breakfast.
RODE N621 then on the LE 2703 to N625 north to Cangis de Onis and then took the Freeway along the coast westward and at Castrapol headed south on the N640 to Meira for the night.
Had to make up some time cause I need to get to Malaga as Charmain and Justin have been their since 1st October.
The ride through Parque Nacional Picos de Europa was magnificent and took some time as it has many twisties and viewpoints. Wether was slightly overcast and ended up for two hours in the rain, was another long ride, 10 hours but I did stop for coffee and lunch. Should be in Malaga on Wednesday or Thursday and looking forward to seeing some family and just relaxing for two weeks before going to Morocco and the final leg home.

POTES DAY 155 394 km.
DEPART RAUL'S HOUSE
Raul rode with me after we went for our usual coffee con leche and toast with olive oil and tomato paste. We visited Elciego and Briones where he went back home and I was on my own again.
FRIAS
ELCIEGO
MONASTERY de SANTA MARIA de RIOSECO
It was really a good time riding with him the past week, we saw some amazing places and I met a bunch of good folks along the way which makes the journey so memorable. Was so fortunate to be able to drink wine in three private Bodega's with so much history going back centuries , something a tourist can't do and for them to welcome me and take me down into their cellar and share a bottle of wine and hear all the family history was quite remarkable.
